Can you do real dog sledding on snow during an Alaska summer cruise?
Yes. Summer dog sledding on actual snow is conducted high on the Juneau Icefield (such as Herbert or Norris Glacier) via helicopter access. Sled camps are operated by veteran mushers and Alaskan huskies from mid-May through August. Tours cost $650 to $799 per person, run approximately 2.75 to 3 hours round-trip, and include van transfers from the cruise docks.
